The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that AI-generated actors are ineligible for Oscar nominations as part of a campaign to limit the use of this technology in film. The new rules stipulate that an actor must be a real person, not an AI-generated version, to be eligible for the highest honor in cinema, and that screenplays must be written by a real person, not a machine. The Academy stated that in the acting categories, only roles listed in the official cast list and proven to have been performed by real actors with their consent will be accepted.
