Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Srinagar, Bukhari said the party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) had recently met to deliberate on the prevailing political situation, particularly the growing demand for restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He said the party had observed that some political groups were attempting to derive political mileage from what he termed a serious and sensitive issue.
