<p>Chicago police quickly closed an investigation into a hit-and-run crash involving a federal immigration agent who helped detain a man earlier this week in Albany Park, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.</p><p>The crash happened Tuesday morning in the 3100 block of West Lawrence Avenue, where U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents <a class="Link" href="https://chicago.suntimes.com/immigration/2026/06/02/federal-agents-crash-into-car-while-detaining-man-in-albany-park" target="_blank" >chased, shocked and detained</a> a shirtless man as a crowd gathered and documented the violent arrest. Before the man was apprehended, an ICE agent appeared to crash into a woman's car.</p><p>Chicago police responded to the scene, interviewed the driver and a witness, and took reports after the agents had left.<i> </i>In a report, police said an ICE agent was making a “tactical move” at the time of the crash, and the incident was classified as being "non-criminal."</p><p>A police spokesperson said the investigation was suspended because there were “no more additional investigative leads," although<i> </i>videos and photos taken by a Sun-Times reporter and other bystanders captured the crash and parts of the arrest.</p><div class="Enhancement" data-align-center><div class="Enhancement-item"> <div class="ExternalContent-wrapper" data-embed> <iframe width="113" height="200" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ysQNeEB3ecE?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen title="ICE agents shock man with Taser, barrel into car during chaotic arrest in Albany Park"></iframe> </div> </div></div><p>On Friday, an insurance agent handling the woman's claim said he hadn't heard back from the Chicago Police Department or the feds, noting that ICE had given him the "runaround" over several calls.</p><p>"They don't want anything to do with anything like this,” the insurance agent said.
