Prophet Muhammad (SAW) comprehensively detailed the profound responsibility, status, and rights of leading a prayer congregation by an Imam in several significant teachings. The Prophet said, “Let the best among you call the Adhan for you and let the best of you in reciting the Qur’an be your Imams.” He taught that Imams who lead their congregations in a manner that pleases the people will hold a place of high honour in the Hereafter, saying: “There will be three persons on the mounds of Musk... one of whom will be the Imam of a people, and they will be pleased with him.” The Prophet emphasized that an Imam is a spiritual leader (the “deputy” in prayer), and the congregation must ensure their rights are respected and supported.
