# Translation If we want to understand Fairuz's song "I Sang of Mecca" - which is revived during Eid al-Adha and the pilgrimage season - accurately, it is better not to start from a naive question like: how did Christians present a song about Mecca? But rather from a deeper question: how was Christian Arab society, especially in Lebanon, part of the Islamic linguistic and symbolic field from within Arabic itself? There is nothing surprising about this, as the Rahbani song came as a natural extension of a cultural climate, not an exception to it, supported by the emergence of a large urban audience in Lebanon capable of receiving a modern musical language with appeal that transcends local boundaries.
