UNIFIL expressed grave concern today, Thursday, about the recent escalation in southern Lebanon, warning of the continuation of the conflict and the deaths, injuries, and widespread destruction it causes, which further undermines stability in the region. UNIFIL pointed out that civilians remain the most affected, as hundreds of thousands have been forced to leave their homes, often without prior warning, amid widespread damage to homes, roads, and basic infrastructure, which negatively impacts daily life and recovery efforts. It added that peacekeeping forces continue to carry out their tasks on the ground, including monitoring developments and reporting to the Security Council, noting that Wednesday witnessed the launching of approximately 670 projectiles, which is among the highest rates recorded since April 17.
