KINGSTON, Jamaica–The University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) is reporting that operations at the hospital have returned to normal after nurses from the Accident and Emergency Department reportedly walked off the job on Tuesday to register their concerns surrounding overcrowding and aspects of the work environment at the hospital. UHWI management team, in a press release on Tuesday, said measures have been implemented to address the immediate concerns, including the transfer of patients from the Accident and Emergency Department to inpatient wards to reduce congestion and improve patient flow.
