The road sector in India spanning approximately 66.20 lakh kilometres as of 2025–26 plays pivotal role in country’s rapid economic growth and its journey towards becoming a $5-Trillion economy. Therefore, substantial additions to the road network are made each year to cater to the steadily rising traffic volumes. While road infrastructure fuels economic growth, it has also led to a troubling rise in road accidents in each successive year resulting in Injuries & Deaths as per the “Road Accidents in India – 2023” report published by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
