Srinagar, Jun 21: The 12th International Day of Yoga is being observed worldwide with the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing", highlighting the importance of regular physical activity in maintaining health, independence, and quality of life in later years. This year’s theme focuses on expanding “healthspan”—the number of years spent in good health—rather than simply increasing lifespan. Experts note that age-appropriate yoga and exercise can help promote functional strength, joint mobility and lubrication, better balance, reduced risk of falls, and improved cognitive clarity among older adults.
