The 57-day-long yatra to the holy cave shrine is expected to witness a record influx of devotees this year amid cool weather in Kashmir and a heat wave in the rest of the country. The administration and security agencies have expressed confidence that the pilgrimage will be conducted peacefully and successfully under an elaborate multi-layered security and rescue framework. Following the flag-off ceremony that will be held in Srinagar, the MRT personnel will be stationed at strategic and vulnerable locations along the twin routes in Ganderbal and Anantnag districts to provide immediate rescue and medical assistance to pilgrims undertaking the arduous Himalayan trek.
