Rajouri, Jun 11: Amid the ongoing forest fire crisis in several areas of the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, the raging flames have emerged as a serious threat not only to the green cover but also to the region’s wildlife. The widespread forest fires have damaged large stretches of forests, trees and vegetation, raising concerns over the safety of wild animals and birds. Wildlife Protection Department officials have reported significant losses of wildlife and destruction of nesting habitats in several affected areas.
