The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board has decided to undertake the reconstruction of the sanctum and other remaining components of the Heritage Restoration and Conservation Project of Hazrat Syed Jaanbaz Wali (RA) shrine at Khanpora, Baramulla, following concerns raised by devotees and locals over the deteriorating condition of the historic religious site. The decision comes after repeated representations from residents and devotees, who urged the Waqf Chairman to reconstruct the old shrine structure instead of limiting the work to preservation, citing its extensive damage and weakened condition. The Directorate of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, J&K, had earlier sanctioned over Rs four crore for the restoration and conservation of the shrine.
