Srinagar, Jun 28: Private hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday announced that they would stop providing dialysis, chemotherapy and all other treatments under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY)/SEHAT scheme from July 1, alleging that the government had failed to clear pending payments running into crores of rupees despite repeated assurances. In a public appeal titled "Earnest Appeal to the People of Jammu & Kashmir", the private hospitals said they had reached a point where continuing services under the flagship health insurance scheme had become financially impossible. The hospitals said they had continued treating patients under the Ayushman Bharat/SEHAT scheme for months without charging beneficiaries directly, relying on the government's assurance that payments would be released on time.
