New Delhi, Jun 22: The first round of negotiations between the United States and Iran aimed at securing a comprehensive agreement to end the ongoing conflict concluded with “encouraging progress”, mediators Qatar and Pakistan said on Monday, according to a BBC report. In a joint statement issued after the talks held in Switzerland, the two mediating countries said both sides had agreed on a “roadmap towards reaching a final deal within 60 days”. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi described the outcome as “major progress” and said the negotiations had moved closer to ending hostilities in Lebanon, one of the key flashpoints linked to the wider regional conflict.
