Srinagar, July 3: Rescue and security agencies remained on high alert as the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra commenced on Friday, with personnel providing medical assistance, oxygen support and physical help to pilgrims along both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes. Teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF) and other agencies were deployed at vulnerable and high-altitude points to ensure the safety and well-being of devotees undertaking the pilgrimage. Throughout the day, SDRF personnel administered oxygen therapy to several pilgrims who developed breathing difficulties at Sangam Top and Rail Pathri, while JKP teams provided similar medical assistance to yatris at Nagakoti.
