The implementation of the Centrally-sponsored Vibrant Villages Programme-II (VVP-II) has gained momentum in J&K, with government-appointed officers visiting identified border villages to assess ground realities, identify development gaps and prepare village-specific action plans. The officials’ visits are aimed at improving living conditions and infrastructure in strategically important areas. As per the official document, J&K UT has brought 1,421 villages spread across 49 border blocks in eight frontier districts under the ambit of the programme, while 124 strategically significant villages across 43 blocks have been selected for focused interventions under the second component of the scheme.
