Russia is offering to subsidize 90% of the rail transport costs for grain to alternative ports, as shipments from the Sea of Azov have been halted for 11 days due to Ukrainian drone attacks. These Azov ports typically handle about a quarter of Russia's grain and oilseed exports. Traders are already applying for these subsidies to reroute cargo to Black Sea and Baltic Sea ports. The number of vessels transmitting AIS data in the Sea of Azov has sharply declined, with analysts suggesting vessels may be disabling AIS to avoid attacks amid intensified Ukrainian strikes. Authorities in Novorossiysk have also banned port access during nighttime hours due to drone threats.
