China's Xinhuanet, a subsidiary of the state news agency, plans to invest 1.1 billion yuan ($162 million) in developing an AI agent called 'Xinhua Yudian' designed to promote Xi Jinping's ideology and disseminate official narratives on current affairs. The system will assist in writing official documents and distributing state-approved content, part of Beijing's broader initiative to deploy AI across economic and social sectors while controlling information narratives among the population.
