Srinagar, Jun 20: The scenic Jhelum Riverfront at Rajbagh, one of Srinagar's flagship urban renewal projects, has been ravaged by stray cows due to failure of Srinagar Smart City Ltd (SSCL) to protect the public asset. In absence of watch and ward by SSCL, stray cows frequently enter the landscaped gardens, damaging flowers, ornamental plants and green spaces that have become a major attraction for residents and tourists. Over the past few days, more than half a dozen cows have been spotted grazing and wandering through the riverfront opposite the Silk Factory— trampling flower beds and damaging vegetation which was developed as part of the extensive beautification works carried out along the banks of the Jhelum.
