The death of 65-year-old Shamima Bano in Srinagar's Naid Kadal area amid rain-induced waterlogging has once again brought into focus the condition of electrical infrastructure across the city, with residents alleging that exposed wires, unsafe transformers and poorly maintained power installations continue to pose a serious threat to public safety. A day after the tragedy, this reporter visited the spot where the incident occurred and found electrical installations in close proximity to waterlogged areas. Residents pointed towards exposed wires near a transformer and alleged that several safety concerns remain unaddressed despite repeated complaints.
