Srinagar, Jun 29: Kashmir reeled under intense heat on Monday as Srinagar recorded the hottest day of the season so far at 35.3 degrees Celsius, which is 5.3 degrees above normal, amid a worsening heatwave across the Valley. The Valley has been witnessing hot days since June 25, the season’s first heat wave of sorts. On June 29, the temperature came close to last year’s peak of 35.5°C, with several parts of Kashmir witnessing unusually high temperatures for this time of the year. According to weather data, Qazigund recorded 33.8°C, Pahalgam 29.0°C, Kupwara 32.7°C, Kokernag 32.9°C and Gulmarg 26.2°C — all significantly above normal temperatures.
