The Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development announced on Wednesday a Technical and Institutional Action Plan for the recovery and release of alligators (Crocodylus intermedius) that have been without regular food since December 2025 in facilities in Villavicencio, Meta. The official intervention came almost two weeks after reports of the animals' physical deterioration became public. The plan calls for June 22 a session of the Coordinating Committee for the Categorization of Threatened Wild Species, with the participation of research institutes, national and international experts, environmental authorities and entities linked to the National Program for the Conservation of the Llanero Cayman (Procaimán).
