Nicaragua's government released a "proof of life" video showing Miskito indigenous leader Brooklyn Rivera and another political prisoner held in forced disappearance. Rivera appeared severely incapacitated on a hospital bed with mechanical ventilation and intravenous feeding, raising urgent concerns about the health and treatment of at least nine other political detainees still missing.

Brooklyn Rivera, a leading Miskito indigenous rights advocate and co-founder of the autonomy movement YATAMA in Nicaragua, has been killed following kidnapping and extrajudicial detention by government forces under Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo.
