The long-awaited return of Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar finally came ahead of the series opener against the Cincinnati Reds. He was back in the lineup and hitting in the leadoff spot Friday.

Lars Nootbaar felt like he didn't really "square up" the first ball he put in play Friday night in a start that marked his first appearance in the Cardinals' lineup this season.
