Cluj-Napoca's metropolitan train project has advanced to contract signing, with the tender for station construction awarded to a three-party consortium. The 49 km rail network, scheduled for completion by 2029, will connect the city to surrounding areas via 23 stations and include eight new stations within Cluj-Napoca, modernization of over 50 km of existing track, and a fleet of seven electric trainsets. The project, valued at over RON 1.4 billion with approximately 85% non-reimbursable European funding, is expected to serve 7,600 passengers daily by 2030.
