The founder of the American television channel CNN, Ted Turner, has died at the age of 87. CNN reports. CNN started with 24-hour news broadcasts. This distinguished itself from its competitors that broadcast news at set times. Turner was named Person of the Year by Time magazine in 1991 for having influenced the way people viewed news, especially after CNN's coverage of the Gulf War. Time called the coverage "history as it happens." He is survived by five children, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, according to CNN.
