A Dutch couple on a cruise ship from southern Argentina are believed to have contracted hantavirus while birdwatching in the city of Ushuaia before their departure, the Associated Press reported. According to the Associated Press, Argentine investigators said the couple visited a garbage dump, where they were likely exposed to infected rodents. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the press while the investigation is ongoing. This is the most First recorded case of hantavirus in the province of Tierra del Fuego. Investigation into the outbreak is still ongoing.
