The Minister of Transport insinuates that it is not coincidental that the Zapatero case and the new branch of the Leire Díez case have come to light the same week that the Kitchen operation trial begins: "It seems that the timing of politics and justice are surprisingly synchronized" The former number two at Interior of the PP denies that Kitchen existed and says there was only an "intelligence operation" The Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, expressed conviction this Thursday that the Government is being victimized by an operation from certain sectors of politics, justice, and the media to bring it down "using undemocratic methods". Puente stated this Thursday in statements to the media in Congress barely 24 hours after the Civil Guard entered the PSOE's central headquarters on Wednesday to gather information about an alleged scheme financed by the party that would have aimed to destabilize judicial cases affecting the Executive or socialists. Puente affirmed on several occasions that now is the time to let "justice do its work" and clarify the facts regarding this alleged scheme, although he insisted that the investigation is still in an "instruction phase" and that "two alleged bribes" contained in the ruling published Wednesday "have been categorically denied" by the people who supposedly were attempted to be bought.
