Romania's budget deficit fell to 1.17% of GDP after the first four months of 2026, down from 2.92% of GDP in the same period last year, according to data published by the Ministry of Finance. Minister Alexandru Nazare says the reduction, of over 32 billion lei, represents "a major correction" and sends a signal of credibility to investors and rating agencies.
