A Hong Kong court ruled that the former employer of a Filipina domestic worker who died must pay more than HK$251,000 to her family, after she was fired in 2019 following a cervical cancer diagnosis. Human rights advocates welcomed the decision but noted the court process had been extraordinarily lengthy and painful for the bereaved family.
