The National Liberation Army (ELN) claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of Iván Alfredo Guzmán Valcárcel, son of former mayor of Tame, Arauca, Alfredo Guzmán Tafur, which occurred on May 25th in that municipality in the eastern part of the country. Through a statement, the illegal armed group asserted that the young man was detained around 3:30 in the morning in the urban area of Tame, in the midst of what it characterized as "territorial control" actions. Additionally, the ELN indicated that Guzmán Valcárcel would be handed over in the coming days to humanitarian organizations.
