In Tunisia, since April 23, 2026, the region known as Dahar, in southern Tunisia, has been officially classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its 6,000 km² geopark, rich in biodiversity and history. With this classification, promoters of southern Tunisia hope to also promote alternative and sustainable tourism in this area, which has long been marginalized.
