Romania's budget deficit decreased to 1.17% of GDP after the first four months of the year, from 2.92% in the same period in 2025, and the reduction of over 32 billion lei represents one of the most important fiscal adjustments in recent years, declared the Finance Minister, Alexandru Nazare, in an intervention at Digi24. According to him, the correction was achieved through strict control of expenditures and through increased absorption of European funds, without reducing public investments.
