Eva Kostolanská, a lawyer at the Czech Office of the Public Defender of Rights, has been elected ombudswoman and will assume office on June 18. She defeated former human rights commissioner Klára Šimáčková Laurenčíková in the second round of voting and pledged to continue her predecessor's approach while increasing engagement with public administration.
