The revered annual Mela Kheer Bhawani will be celebrated on Monday at the historic Mata Kheer Bhawani shrine in Tulmulla, Ganderbal, with thousands of Kashmiri Pandit devotees, including members of the migrant community, expected to participate in the festival. As preparations gather pace, local Muslim residents of Tulmulla and adjoining areas are enthusiastically gearing up to welcome the devotees, continuing a long-standing tradition of communal harmony and brotherhood that has come to define the annual pilgrimage. The Kheer Bhawani shrine, dedicated to Goddess Ragnya Devi, is one of the holiest sites for Kashmiri Pandits and has long symbolised Kashmir’s composite culture.
