The case of Breider Murcia Correa, a young man who suffered a traffic accident in Florencia, Caquetá, during the month of March and who remained without specialized surgery despite a medical order, took a turn this week. After the intervention of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) and more than 50 days of waiting, his health insurance provider (EPS) confirmed his transfer to a high-complexity center in Bogotá to try to prevent the amputation of his leg. He was initially treated at the María Inmaculada Departmental Hospital on April 2, when a medical evaluation determined the urgency of referring him to a higher-complexity center for reconstructive surgery.
