Moments of tension were experienced by passengers on a flight from Bogotá heading to Antonio Nariño Airport (Pasto) when the plane failed to land due to adverse weather conditions. According to preliminary information, Avianca flight AV9401 had departed on May 26 to cover the Bogotá-Pasto route. However, as it approached the airport, it began to experience stabilization problems due to bad weather, which hindered its proper landing.
