Brazilian multi-artist Matheus Macena is premiering a solo performance titled "Edson" on May 9 at SESC Vila Mariana that reconstructs the 1968 murder of Edson Luís de Lima Souto and interrogates the institutional silence surrounding it. The work, written and directed by Macena himself, uses this political crime as a lens to question why Brazil repeats its historical tragedies.
