However, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in its latest report, says that poppy cultivation in the country has declined by 95 percent since the ban on poppy cultivation was imposed. According to the report, the area under poppy cultivation fell from 232,000 hectares in 2022 to 10,200 hectares in 2025.
