Russia and Ukraine exchanged 185 prisoners each on June 5, with the UAE mediating. Among the Russian prisoners released, 51% had criminal records, with sentences primarily for property crimes (47%), violent crimes (23%), and drug offenses (18%). Ukrainian civil society noted that 83% of Russian prisoners exchanged had been captured less than a year ago, while those held longer remained in Ukrainian custody. President Zelensky confirmed one civilian was also returned to Ukraine alongside military personnel.
