The United States announced today, Thursday, the imposition of new sanctions targeting the Iranian military's oil trade, despite Washington and Tehran reaching a preliminary agreement to extend a ceasefire and lift restrictions on navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. Treasury Department said it imposed sanctions on eight ships involved in transporting Iranian crude oil and its derivatives to global markets.
