Officially, the FSB's Second Service is tasked with protecting the constitutional order and combating terrorism. In reality, this agency attempts to eradicate dissent in Russia: it prepares assassination attempts against opposition politicians, restricts internet access, and monitors signs of disagreement in the news. For the latter purpose, the "Second Service" ordered the development of a media and social media monitoring system using artificial intelligence a couple of years ago.
