Speaking at a gathering, they said citizens should raise their concerns and demands with the government through legal and peaceful channels and avoid actions that could lead to unrest and instability. Religious scholar Mohammad Akbari said: βIf we have a demand regarding any issue, we should share it with the authorities through religious scholars, community elders and local representatives, and pursue it through legal channels.β Another religious scholar, Mohammad Amin Nasih, said: βThe trust that has been established between the government and the people must be preserved.β Some Herat residents also said protests should not become a cause of insecurity.
