The testimonies of the nineteen women interviewed for this investigation reveal a stark gap between the scale of the violence they experience and the number of cases that reach protection institutions. Of all the women who spoke to the reporting team, only five reported the abuse they endured. The others remained silent, held back by stigma, fear, economic dependence, and pressure from their families and communities.
