Ukrainian drones struck Ryazan overnight on May 15. Governor Pavel Malkov said two multi-story residential buildings in the city were damaged, and drone debris fell on the grounds of an industrial facility. Four people were killed, including a child, and 12 more were injured. The strike sparked a fire at the Ryazan oil refinery, leading to what some locals described as an “oil rain.” Residents complained online of sticky black spots on their cars, windows, and building facades. Ukrainian drones have previously struck the Ryazan refinery, one of the largest in Russia, on multiple occasions, but this was the first attack to result in fatalities. Meduza is publishing photos and videos of the aftermath of the drone strike.
