Syrian courts have begun public trials of suspects accused of perpetrating deadly sectarian violence in the Druze-majority Sweida province in July 2024, which claimed more than 2,000 lives during clashes between Druze factions and Bedouin fighters. The proceedings mark the new Syrian government's first major effort at accountability for wartime atrocities since Bashar al-Assad's ouster.
