At the same time, official figures show that 1,719 people have so far lost their lives as a result of the earthquakes, while rescue teams from 30 countries are participating in relief operations. Delcy Rodríguez, Venezuela's Acting President, said: "Rescue teams from 30 countries are now in Venezuela, working tirelessly to save lives, pull people from beneath the rubble, and support our people during these extremely difficult days." Venezuelan authorities also said that more than 5,000 people have been injured, nearly 200 buildings have completely collapsed, and thousands of families, having lost their homes, are now living in temporary shelters.
