Romeu Zema, a former governor of Minas Gerais and presidential pre-candidate for the Novo party, used a Federal Police operation against Ciro Nogueira, the PP party president and senator from Piauí, to strengthen his anti-system political positioning and appeal to more radical voters.

The Attorney General's Office (PGR) denounced on Friday (15) the former governor of Minas Gerais Romeu Zema to the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) for the crime of slander against the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Gilmar Mendes. The complaint mentions a series of videos published by Zema on his social networks, entitled "The untouchables". The videos bring satires that relate Mendes and other ministers of the Court with the case of Banco Master.
