Jihadists abducted several dozen students in the Askia Uba district of Borno State, northeastern Nigeria — near the village of Chibok where 274 schoolgirls were taken in 2014. Separate abductions were reported simultaneously in another region of the country, amid a recent surge in attacks on civilians and military bases in the area.
