Colombian military and regional authorities report that FARC dissidents operating in Meta and Guaviare departments are beheading citizens and coercing rural voters ahead of the presidential election. The former mayor of Cubarral and his government secretary, who was coordinating a presidential candidate's campaign, were killed in a motorcycle attack. View all signals →Colombian presidential candidate Iván Cepeda announced he has filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office alleging that armed group dissident factions are pressuring and coercing voters ahead of the May 31st presidential elections. Speaking from Popayán, Cepeda stated that FARC dissident factions operating in Guaviare, Cauca, Meta, and Caquetá are using intimidation tactics, controlling identification systems, and threatening voters to influence electoral outcomes. The allegations follow claims by former president Álvaro Uribe that armed groups are forcing rural communities to vote for Cepeda, and corroborating reports from rival candidates Paloma Valencia and Claudia López of similar voter intimidation occurring across multiple municipalities.
Now the dissidents of the FARC commanders for "Calarcá" are carnalizing the peasants in departments such as Guaviare, Meta and Caquetá, in this way they control where they move, if they pay extortion and even who they vote for. It is a very large alert, because a week ago an audio that unleashed the alert was known through networks and that said: "I hope comrade Cepeda wins, jugpuerca, because there we are going to squeeze them 4 years". Initially it was identified as alias Rogelio Benavides, dissident of the FARC, specifically of the group led by alias Calarcá, currently a fugitive from Justice.
